Abandoned MUDHOUSE MANSION, outside Lancaster, Ohio, USA

This stunning Second Empire mansion was built by Robert Mudhouse in the late 1800’s. It has been abandoned since the 1950’s. Like many abandoned buildings, it was rumored to be haunted. One rumor involves slaves who killed their ruthless owner. This is unlikely, since Ohio was not a slave state.

Other local tales assert that the house is the original home of the “Bloody Mary” of children’s lore, and that the house was haunted by a woman who killed her children.

It was demolished September 21, 2015 because the current owners did not want to continue paying for the expensive insurance policy for liability reasons.
