Forgotten Hashima Island

Hashima Island, famously known as Battleship Island, was once a bustling hub of activity, and it played a crucial role in Japan’s rapid industrialization during the early 20th century.

However, as the demand for coal decreased and the mines became less profitable, the industry faced a decline.

In 1974, the mines were eventually closed down, rendering Hashima Island obsolete.
